One of the amazing kindergarten teachers and I have been creating and implementing simple SMARTboard activities with her senior kindergarten class. The morning activity involves students finding their name on the board and dragging it into a category to show their preference (e.g. their preference between summer and winter). They are learning to touch the board effectively (an important skill in SK!) and read their names. Ms. Moffat also tallies up the columns at the end of the activity to review math skills and data management. Recently we used a large line backdrop on the board to allow students to practice writing their names with the SMARTboard pen. They then came to the SMARTtable to write their name again but using their fingers. They are developing their fine motor skills, practicing their letters and getting used to touching interactive screens.
